Privacy Policy

This policy applies to learners who use the Tarbiyah LMS student platform — the website and any related pages where you browse courses, learn, and manage your account.

We collect only what we need to run the platform and give you a good experience:

• Account details — your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number and profile photo.
• Profile details you provide — such as your location, educational background, and community/organisation information you choose to add during signup.
• Learning activity — the courses you enrol in, your lesson and course progress, quiz and test results, certificates you earn, bookmarks, reviews, and questions or messages you post.
• Technical information — basic device and browser data, and cookies or similar identifiers needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure.

• To create and manage your account and keep you signed in securely.
• To deliver courses, track your progress, and issue certificates.
• To enable community features such as course chat, mentorship, and Q&A.
• To send you important service messages (for example, verification or security notices).
• To maintain, improve, and protect the platform against misuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

We use Clerk, a third-party authentication provider, to manage sign-in, sign-up, and account security for learners. When you create an account or log in, Clerk processes your credentials on our behalf. Your password is handled by Clerk and is never stored by us in readable form. Clerk’s handling of this data is governed by its own privacy terms.

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the platform to work — primarily to keep you signed in and to protect your session. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.

We share information only in limited, necessary ways:

• Service providers that help us operate the platform — for example, Clerk (authentication) and Cloudflare (secure file storage and content delivery). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
• Instructors may see limited information related to your participation in their courses (such as your name, progress, questions, and messages you send them).
• Legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the platform.

Course files and uploads are stored using Cloudflare R2. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service — including keeping records of enrolments, progress, and certificates. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data unless we are required to keep it for legitimate legal or record-keeping reasons.

You can:

• Access and update most of your information from your profile.
• Request a copy of your personal data, or request its correction or deletion.
• Close your account at any time.

To make a request, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

The platform is intended for users who are old enough to consent to these terms under their local law. If a younger person uses the platform, it should be with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will address it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the platform. Continuing to use Tarbiyah LMS after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
